We welcome you to join the FTW Woke Book Club as we discuss our latest book “WHITE FRAGILITY” by: Robin DiAngelo
The timing for this book is perfect both politically and socially. We will have a guest led panel discussion with a few of our respected community members.
White Fragility : In this “vital, necessary, and beautiful book” (Michael Eric Dyson), antiracist educator Robin DiAngelo deftly illuminates the phenomenon of white fragility and “allows us to understand racism as a practice not restricted to ‘bad people’ (Claudia Rankine). Referring to the defensive moves that white people make when challenged racially, white fragility is characterized by emotions such as anger, fear, and guilt, and by behaviors including argumentation and silence. These behaviors, in turn, function to reinstate white racial equilibrium and prevent any meaningful cross-racial dialogue. Breinn Runnels Richter:
Breinn is a PhD candidate in Human Resource Development at Texas A&M University in College Station. Her research interests include critical race theory, Indigenous epistemology, culturally safe leadership for social justice and postcolonial feminist perspectives. She’s recently taken an adjunct teaching position at TCU in the Management and Leadership department.
Professor of Philosophy and chair of Modern Languages at TCU. Blake currently teaches: Mind Meaning and Morality , Mind Thought and Consciousness, Existential Philosophy, and Ancient Philosophy to name a few. His primary focus is Ancient Greek Philosophy , Truth Theory and Existentialism.
