Hidden Biases of Good People – Implicit Bias Training
January 20 @ 1:15 pm - 4:30 pm
Join the volunteers and leaders of Moms Demand Action of Denton County for an Implicit Bias training and discussion, presented by Everytown for Gun Safety and Dr. Bryant Marks. Dr. Marks is the Founding Director and Principal Trainer of The National Training Institute on Race & Equity. ** He will not be in attendance.** Everytown has given us permission to show the video of the training he provided at our recent Gun Sense University in Atlanta over the summer. While the training is given to volunteers and leaders of Moms Demand Action, everyone is welcome to join us!
Hidden Biases of Good People will cover diversity, equity, inclusion, empathy, and more, to help you understand how it impacts your social and work life, and those around you. Dr. Marks provides tools and suggestions to help you learn how to reduce and manage your own biases. Please note, this isn’t just about racism, this class covers implicit biases that we all have about someone or something at any given time. This will benefit anyone that attends! If you think you don’t have any biases, that you “treat everyone the same” this class is definitely for you.
Food & beverages will be provided at no extra cost, but if you don’t mind donating to Moms Demand Action to help us recover some of the costs that would be greatly appreciated! Bring a notebook or laptop, also.
**If you require any special accommodations or have transportation difficulties please let us know and we will be happy to assist.**
